Hi guys. It’s Lisa from lisajeffs.com. If you’re new to me, I am an intuitive success coach, and I work women and men, and help them move through all their limits, everything that’s keeping them stuck, to get them to where they want to be in their life and in their career. I was going to come on earlier and do this, but you know what? I got on a call with a client, and we got into that zone, so it’s a little longer than I wanted, but you know what? I wanted to come on anyways to give you this message because I know someone is going to hear it, and they’re going to be like, I get it. That just clicked for me. That’s what I needed to hear.

So this message came in for me earlier, just share it with you. What I hear a lot of times from people is this feeling of a lack of discipline. It’s a feeling of, how do I get this done, like how do motivate myself, how do I create this? I keep going around in circles. I keep doing the same thing over and over again, and I’m not getting anywhere, like I’m not feeling that drive. What I say is, discipline is a practice. Sometimes when we hear the word discipline, like disciplining ourselves, we think it’s hard, or we think it’s tough, or it’s going to take a lot of work, and it’s going be a struggle. I’m here to tell you, when you are disciplined, and you create a practice of discipline, it is so much easier. It makes things so much easier. You know what’s harder? What harder is not doing what you’re feeling called to do. What’s harder is living in resistance. It is not doing, procrastinating because of fear, okay?

I’ll give you two examples. When I was in university, I was in university full time. I was also working full time. My daughter at the time was very young. I can’t remember how old she was, but she was young, a young elementary school child. I was also training for a marathon, okay? I was getting up at like 4:15 every day to train, to workout. I was then going to school. I was then going, I think I was going to work after. I then still had to do my work. I still had to do my homework and take care of my daughter, okay? The only way I did this was to discipline myself to wakeup early, to take care of my body because if my energy wasn’t taken care of, I would have just been a complete zombie. All my days were very structured, so I got everything done. I was able to do everything. That’s why when people come up with this excuse of, I don’t have time for that, it’s, no, you’re not making the time for that, because we can always make time for what is a priority to us.

But, what I want to talk about right now is discipline. I was disciplined to get up at 4:15, which I don’t recommend. I went to bed early, so I was getting my sleep in. I do not recommend giving up sleep to do what you want. Sleep is incredibly important. Your health is number one. I don’t believe in wearing yourself out and hustling into the ground. That’s not what this is about. But, this is about discipline. I discipline myself to get up early, and to do my work, and to work, and go to school, and take care of my daughter, but pretty quickly it became a habit, and it was normal for me, and it was natural for me. My discipline, it became easy. It was just easy. I just did it. I just did it, and it wasn’t a struggle, it was just something that was, it was part of me. It was very easy to do it. Yes, there were times where I was tired. Yes, there were times where I was like, oh, my God, what am I doing? I’m working all the time, but it was still easy for me to do it. It wasn’t like I had to push myself.

What is harder, and this is what happened when I first started my business, I was like in massive resistance. There was massive resistance because there was fear. There was fear around stepping into my power. There was fear around putting myself out there, being vulnerable. And you know, so I sat, and I watched Netflix for like a week straight. I just marathoned the whole thing. I didn’t do anything. You think, well, that was easy, but it’s not easy. It’s not easy. It was hard. It was terrible. It was emotionally draining. It was in a state of just this feeling of I knew I should be doing something else, but I wasn’t because of fear.

When you know that there’s something you need to be doing, there’s something you want, there’s some goal you want to reach, whether it’s business, it’s career, it’s relationship, it’s in your body, working out, whatever it is, and you’re not doing it, okay, and you think that getting up early to work on your business, or work on your career, or if making time for your relationship, or starting a workout routine is going to be harder for you to discipline yourself, that’s going to be harder, this is where you’re getting it all mixed up. Because when we’re in a state of feeling like there’s more that we want to do, there’s more for our life, and we’re not doing it, that is one of the hardest things you can go through because it is like a massive, like thousand pound weight that’s weighing on you constantly, and you’re carrying it around. So sure, maybe you’re lying around, maybe you’re not doing anything, maybe you’re just going out, going to a bar, going to a restaurant, I don’t know what you’re doing, but if you can be disciplined and develop that practice, and develop that disciplined practice, that’s going to be so much easier for you because you’re going to create this habit around it.

Reaching your goals are going to be, it’s going to be so much more of a breeze. I’m not saying it’s going to be always easy and always simple, but disciplining yourself and getting into the practice of discipline, just makes things easier. It makes things easier. The first couple of weeks everything is new, and you might feel like it’s a struggle, maybe you have to get up earlier, maybe you have to go to bed earlier, maybe you have to give up that TV show in the night, whatever it is, it’s only hard for that little part of the time. That’s only hard for this much, and then it gets really easy. Then, you get that momentum going, and then you start getting results, and you’re like, how could I ever not live like this? How could I never live like this? It was so much harder before.
